Welcome, second graders and families! Please view the latest videos in the Movies section.
Our class scored very well on the spring MAP tests. 100% of our class met or exceeded their expected growth rate in math, and 94% met or exceeded their expected growth rate in reading. This is a credit to my students as well as their parents who have consistently promoted their progress.
We are corresponding with a class in Tasmania on www.ning.com. This site was created for the sole purpose of my students and the students from Tasmania to learn about each others' culture. It is an incredible learning experience. For example, Tasmania's time is fourteen hours ahead of hours. Our Internet buddies live in the southern hemisphere so their seasons are opposite of our seasons. While it is summer here in South Carolina, it is winter there. We have been sending videos, and they have posted theirs too. We love listening to their Australian accents! Click on the song below to learn about the Tasmanian devil.
My students have begun taking home Paddington Bear and writing about their experiences in a journal especially made for Paddington Bear. Each child will have this opportunity. The children are very excited about this!
Please enjoy Justin M's videos taken of him with Paddington Bear at Riverbanks Zoo. It is definitely worth watching! Click on or copy this link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vhGslG5r4_Y&feature=PlayList&p=53526A2D109D692F&playnext_from=PL&index=0&playnext=1
